Women who eagerly anticipate the annual spring Vera Bradley outlet sale, take note: The company is hosting a fall outlet sale this year.
Deep discounts on handbags, luggage and accessories will be offered throughout the event, according to a news release issued by the company.
Last year, the company also held outlet sales in Charlotte, N.C., and Atlanta, said Melissa Cordial, public relations manager. This year the company decided to host a fall sale in Fort Wayne to attract visitors to the company’s hometown, Cordial said. This year’s spring sale in Fort Wayne attracted 60,000 people.
“Our hope is that the Vera Bradley outlet sale makes a strong impact on Fort Wayne’s economy by bringing visitors, tourists and funds into the city,” Jill Nichols, Vera Bradley chief operating officer, said in the news release. “We are excited to be able to provide our consumers discounted products at a time when families are closely watching their spending.”
The timing is perfect for early holiday shopping. The sale will be 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Oct. 2 and 3, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 4. The sale will be at Memorial Coliseum, 4000 Parnell Ave.
A $2,500-per-person limit will be enforced to curb resale of product, the news release says.
Headquartered in Fort Wayne, Vera Bradley was founded by two local women, Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, who were awaiting a flight in Atlanta together in 1982 and lamenting the lack of feminine-looking luggage. Within weeks, they had formed a company to rectify the situation, and named it after Baekgaard’s mother, Vera Bradley.
From its humble beginnings in Fort Wayne, Vera Bradley has become an internationally recognized brand. The product has even been seen on TV on shows such as “Desperate Housewives” and “Brothers and Sisters.”
In addition to handbags, Vera Bradley designs stationery, rolling luggage, tableware, fine rugs and other accessories.
