Playful Potter studio owner Denise Oliver won the Create for the Cure Member Award at the international convention for Contemporary Ceramic Studios Association (CCSA) held in Phoenix, Ariz., September 5-8. Oliver was honored by convention attendees for creating the best pottery piece for the charity auction that benefited the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

CCSA, comprised of over 700 studios from throughout the world, choose the Vera Bradley Foundation as the beneficiary of the organization’s charity auction of pottery art created by the CCSA studios. Oliver’s creation, a colorful and playful fountain that featured 10 different ceramic techniques commonly used at pottery painting studios as well as 12 fused glass pieces. At auction, the piece sold for $2,100. In total, CCSA raised $33,000 for the Vera Bradley Foundation.

“The piece was the result of 60 hours work by my manager Tabatha Wade and myself,” said Oliver. “There were many fantastic examples of creative ceramic art submitted and I was very surprised and pleased that the Playful Potter fountain was selected for the award.”

“The fountain was the member award winner, and the big winner of the night was a clock created by Julie Cates from On the Pot in Salina, Kansas that sold for $8,000 and received the Create for the Cure Supplier Award,” added Oliver. “It was gratifying to provide these funds to the Vera Bradley Foundation. CCSA selected the foundation because 100% of the funds raised go to research,” explained Oliver who serves on the CCSA board of directors.

Playful Potter, located at 1351 E. Prater Way in Sparks, has been serving pottery artists from Washoe County for more than six years. Besides drop-in painting, the studio offers glass fusing, party packages for birthdays and other celebrations, story time for children every Friday morning and other events and activities that can be seen on playfulpotter.com or call 356-5811 for more information.

Where Did You Get Your Designer Handbag?

As I prepared my notes in the corner of a local office building, I noticed a group of women huddled in a circle, just ecstatic with a fellow workers latest designer handbag purchase.
Any passer by could not resist taking a glimpse to see why the ladies were crowding around.
“Oh my god thats a real Vera Bradley!” , ” How Much Was It ?”, “Where did you get it?”
They quickly kept commenting, and questioning one after another, throwing in any bit of information on the handbag they could.

The young lady clutching on to this brand new Vera Bradley designer handbag answered, “I tried to look online, but I was too skeptical, I couldn’t do it and ended up paying full retail for it at boutique house cleaners Vancouver. ” Ouch I thought to myself, because I could sense she paid upwards of $900 for what was a bag worth around $400 online, but that’s if you know where to get it, and most don’t.

The women remained gathered for nearly up to an hour as I worked on my laptop waiting for a tardy business call. I was thinking to myself that these women are so interested in this bag that it led to and upholstery cleaning in hour conversation delaying all delegated office work. To hear all their lingering questions on how to obtain a deal on these beautiful designer handbags–a question that most women are asking.

Today, designer handbag e-commerce remains in its infancy. As the world of online sales progress, tougher measures will be taken to prevent sale of fake designer handbags and the production of these replicas. Is it going to take a new world order to crack down on this issue or just a few people doing the right research and spreading the word on a massive basis? Know where to get good deals on true authentic handbags upholstery cleaning richmond pass the word on. The average citizen in North America passes on a deal to their friends when they find one. Many deals are to be had, and there are actual legitimate online companies who only sell authentic designer handbags.

In this world of designer handbag mania, I believe slowly but surely the majority of people seeking deals on the real thing will find them online. There will always be the boutique go’er that just can’t resist the atmosphere and the thrill of paying full retail price, or maybe to brag s upholstery cleaning friends how many paychecks they had to set aside or how much their boyfriend spent on them. That is just how it is in this highly competitive designer handbag fashion era.

In this day and age, not just with designer handbags but shopping in general, great discounts can be found by purchasing items online as opposed to offline at a department stores or boutiques. and upholstery cleaning in and coupons can be found from the legitimate websites on blogs or forums even furthering the online designer handbag discount. Times will change and the comfort and convenience of shopping at home online will ultimately become second nature to the average shopper or designer handbag lover.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -

The Fort Wayne area appears to be breaking about even in jobs related to Vera Bradley Designs Inc. as the company switches from having contractors make its handbags, luggage and accessories to doing it in-house.

Vera Bradley announced Friday it plans to convert an industrial site in New Haven, just east of Fort Wayne, into a new production facility that will employ about 560 people, including about 70 who already work at other Vera Bradley facilities.

Three Fort Wayne companies that provide products to Vera Bradley announced in March that Vera Bradley’s decision to do the work in-house would force them to close, putting 537 people out of work. Vera Bradley said it decided to do the work within the company to increase efficiency and provide more control over the products.

“This is an important step in our plan to integrate previously outsourced manufacturing into our operation,” says Mike Ray, Vera Bradley’s chief executive officer. “We are happy to have found the facility right here in Allen County.”

The company is completing plans to lease the 125,356-square-foot facility. Startup work is expected to begin next month.

The city of New Haven has pledged a $100,000 grant over three years to assist with the building reconfiguration. The New Haven City Council also will consider phasing in property taxes associated with the project.

Vera Bradley could save about $299,000 while still paying nearly $417,000 in local property tax over seven years based on calculations provided by Allen County officials.

Vera Bradley and Hanning & Bean Enterprises, which owns the building, will spend about $2 million to improve the building and $2.2 million on equipment, machinery and computer hardware and software, according to the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance.
